Islam in the Lowcountry

If you’ve ever driven for more than a few minutes down a street in the bible belt of the south, you know a church of sorts is not exactly few & far between. Over the course of several months, I spent my weekends, most importantly Friday’s (the Islamic day of gathering) at a single Mosque hidden among the hundreds of churches. I wanted to bear witness to what it means to be a Muslim in the deep south. Here, I found peace, calm, and an unwavering acceptance.
